A student from St.Joseph Vaz College in Wennappuwa has invented an automated disinfectant hand-sanitizer apparatus.
The invention was a brainchild of Nimesh Isala Vandelan a student studying in the mathematics stream in year 13 of the college. He stated that he was convinced that his invention would be useful to combat the spread of the current Covid-19 virus.
He had used a small plastic bottle and several electrical sensors and circuits for his invention. He said that this first appliance would be presented to St.Joseph Vaz College Wennappuwa.
Nimesh Isala Vandalen said “I have been interested in inventing several electronic gadgets since my childhood. I first invented a remote controlled car. However since I was involved in my studies did not have much time to spend on inventions.
He had initially used a rigifoam structure for his dispenser and subsequently used plastic bottles he intends improving his design further.
“I understood the requirement for hands free dispensing of disinfectant liquid with the spread of Covid-19 in Sri Lanka.
He said that he intends building a light aircraft after he completes his studies. He is thankful to His father who always supports him financially for all his projects.
The father of Nimesh said,“ Our son has been very keen in ingeniously turning out various gadgets since his childhood. I had to frequently advise him to avoid spending too much time on such things since it would disrupt his education.
He said that he wanted to invent a Automatic Disinfectant Dispenser because many people used disinfectant liquid manually and it was a unsafe practice. Since it appeared to be a timely need, I encouraged him to go ahead with it. We hope to present it to his School and some other institutes as well.
