Banned items thrown to inmates over Kalutara prison walls

A total of 15 suspects were arrested for attempting to throw heroin, tobacco, and mobile devices into the Kalutara Prison, the Police said.  

Initially the police arrested two suspects near the Kalutara Prisons while they were throwing two parcels containing two mobile phones, two mobile chargers and 2.5 grams of heroin into the Prison over the wall.  

Following the interrogation of the suspects, the police arrested another 13 suspects over  trafficking banned goods in that manner. Police also recovered 13.7 grams of heroin from their possession.  

They are to be produced in the Kalutara Magistrate’s Court.
