Colombo District Secretary Pradeep Priyankara Yasaratne said more than 5,850 families in the Colombo District had been subject to self-quarantine and that every family would receive dry rations for 14 days.
The District Secretary who distributed dry rations among the families under quarantine in Kawdana West Grama Niladhari Division said the government had allocated Rs.75 million to implement the programme. He said another Rs.2,100 million had been allocated for payment of the 5,000 rupee grant to the families that lost their livelihood due to the pandemic.
He said 458,000 individuals received the donation of Rs.5,000 earlier but this time the families that received the dry rations valued Rs.10,000 and the employees of the private sector factories that had resumed operations will not be entitled to this payment.
The District Secretary said the permits to mobile vendors would be issued under the strict supervision of the Police and the MOH officers to the most eligible.
