Confidant of drug trafficker in remand arrested

A close confidant of a drug trafficker in remand was arrested by Mount Lavinia Division Crime Investigation Unit during a raid carried out in Kaldemulla. Investigations revealed the suspect had been carrying on the racket for quite some time on the instructions of the drug trafficker in remand.

Police said the suspect had in his possession 15grams of heroin at the time of arrest. Under interrogation he had stated that he had been dealing with drug addicts in the areas of Dehiwala, Ratmalana, Moratuwa, Panadura ,Lunawa, and Piliyandala. He said he received bulk stocks of heroin from drug traffickers in the city on the instructions of the remand prisoner and that he distributed them in packets.  

A police team under SI Anuradha had carried out the raid on the instructions of OIC Crime Investigation Unit CI K.A.S. Pushpakumara Ferndinando and SSP Rohan Premaratne.
