Curfew in five more police areas

• This in addition to the other areas currently under curfew

Curfew was imposed yesterday in the police areas of Kuliyapitiya, Narammala, Pannala, Giriulla and Dummalasooriya until further notice in an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19, Police Spokesman Ajith Rohana said yesterday.  

He said public transport services would be allowed to operate through the curfew areas but however, they would not be permitted to either pick up or drop passengers.   Meanwhile, DIG Rohana said those outside these areas would be permitted to return to their homes while students sitting the Advanced Level examination would be allowed to travel to their examination centres.  

The curfew already in force in 19 police areas of Gampaha and Negombo would also continue until further notice.
