Do not decide the salaries on your own, Treasury advises institution heads

S.R. Attygalle Secretary to the Treasury and Ministry of Finance has instructed all  heads of government institutions not to decide on the salaries of the employees working under their respective institutions as they have been already decided by the ministry.  

In a circular, he has instructed the heads of institutions to follow this especially when filling vacancies in government institutions.  

The circular further says that the heads of institutions must strictly abide by the regulations and procedures in respect of recruitment and filling vacancies.  

Each institution must formulate a plan of succession in order to fill the vacancies created by the retirements of employees, Mr. Attygalle has instructed.
