Facilities will be available for the virtual registration of the newly-elected MPs, Parliament Secretary General Dammika Dasanayake
said yesterday.
He told Daily Mirror the MPs could submit their personal details to the parliamentary authorities without any paper
work involved.
“We normally obtain details such as name, age, religious and ethnic backgrounds for the registration. This time they could do it online,” Mr.
Dasanayake said.
He said arrangements were in place for the inaugural session of the new Parliament on August 20 as set out by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in
the gazette
notice issued on Monday night. Mr. Dissanayake said the MPs should use only the seats allotted to them under the health guidelines while the election of the new Speaker and the swearing in of the new MPs will be the businesses for the day.
Later the parliamentary authorities will conduct an orientation for the new MPs.
