A fisherman who fell ill on board a multi day trawler in the deep sea about 78 nautical miles off Galle light house was taken on board a naval craft and, after providing emergency treatment, rushed to Karapitiya Teaching Hospital on Wednesday evening (20).

Director, Media Division, Sri Lanka Navy Capt. Gayan Wickremesuriya said the fisherman who had left for deep sea fishing from the Ambalangoda Fisheries Harbour had developed a chest pain and taken seriously ill. He said the Search and Rescue Coordinating Centre in Colombo had taken steps to dispatch a fast attack craft to the location of the multi day trawler.
