France to set up maritime security school in Sri Lanka

A paper is to be submitted to cabinet to obtain its approval for a maritime security school that is to be set up here in Sri Lanka by the French government.   

Presidential Advisor on climate change Ruwan Wijewardene mentioned this when he met the Director of Asia and Oceania France of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Benoit Guidee at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday.   

It was highlighted at the meeting that it is important that Sri Lanka’s approach will be aligned with the French maritime security school that they are planning to establish in Sri Lanka. It was revealed at that meeting that a paper will be submitted to cabinet for its approval for the same.   

Both parties have agreed that climate change is the way forward with France and Sri Lanka and it is important that both countries align with the agendas of two Presidents with the issue.   
Director Guidee appraised the tough reforms which were not formulated earlier but mentioned that President Ranil Wickremesinghe had done good.   

It was also revealed that President Macron is willing to warmly welcome President Wickremesinghe to France once the Sri Lankan elections are over.
