Indian arrested over foreign employment fraud of Rs. 10 Mn

An Indian national has been arrested in Bambalapitiya for defrauding over Rs 10 million from several people on the pretense of providing employment in Canada.   Police said the Colombo Fraud Investigation Division officers arrested the suspect following an investigation.  

Investigations revealed that the suspect had defrauded Rs. 10,422,535 from several individuals after promising them to provide foreign employment in Canada.   The suspect was to be produced in the Fort Magistrate’s Court and remanded till July 22.
