Japan donates Rs. 300Mn worth flood relief

A consignment of flood relief valued at more than Rs.300 million donated by the Japanese government was handed over to Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Air Vice Marshal (Rtd) Sampath Thuiyakontha at the Bandaranaike International Airport.  

It included 230 tents, 1300 sleeping pads, and 30 rolls of plastic sheets to be distributed among the people in the affected areas through the Disaster Management Centres.  

Director General of Disaster Management Centre Major Gen. (Rtd.) Udaya Herath, Japanese Ambassador in Sri Lanka Akio Isomata and Sri Lanka Representative of JICA Tetsuya Yamada were present at the occasion.
