The passenger ferry service between Kankesanthurai and Nagapattinam  in India, which had been suspended due to inclement weather experienced  in the North from October to December last year, resumed today.

The Gangi Shipping Line operating the ferry service said the rough seas and the gale force winds experienced in the sea off the North precluded the ferry service for the last three months.
A spokesman for the Shipping Line said they focused on suspending the  ferry service in view of the unfavorable weather conditions and decided  to resume it after seeking technical advice.

He said a one-week period had been allowed for the reservation of seats for the journey today. The fare per head is Rs.35,000. The Shipping Line has planned to operate the ferry service daily excluding Sundays.
