MEDICINES DELIVERED BY POST FROM TODAY: HEALTH MINISTRY

The Health Ministry is to initiate a program to supply drugs for clinic patients at government hospitals during the period of COVID-19 from today (27) in districts where police curfew is imposed, Health Services Director General Dr S Sridharan said. He said medicines will be distributed for those obtaining treatment from government hospitals and have insufficient medicine for their daily use.

He also stated that the program will commence as a joint programme with the Postal Department from tomorrow in Kalutara and Kurunegala District in addition to the Colombo and Gampaha districts. Patients are requested to provide accurate details including name, address, clinic number and telephone number as these details were essential to enable distribution of medications, he said. “Patients are requested to communicate by phone and submit their details to the hospital to be registered as early as possible. The hospital staff have been instructed to prepare packets of medications which will bear the correct address, clinic number, phone number and name of the hospital. The packets will delivered to the relevant patients by post regularly during the curfew,” Dr.Sridharan said. Patients can also contact the Grama Niladhari or Public Health Midwife (PHM) to inform accurate details to the relevant hospitals, he added.
