Release Hejaaz Hizbullah just as Riyad Bathiudeen: Eran

While commending the release of Rishad Bathiudeen’s brother, Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Eran Wickramaratne yesterday said Attorney-at-law Hejaaz Hizbullah, who is in remand custody should also be released if there is no evidence against him.   

He told Parliament that the release of Riyad Bathiudeen was a good move and asked as to why he was detained for so long if there w no evidence against him.   

The MP said Attorney-at-law Hizbullah had been detained since April without producing him in court and added that he was denied of Attorneys and said he should be given access to Attorneys. “If he is not a threat to investigations, he can be given bail. Suspects are detained only if they pose a threat to investigations,” 
he said.   

He said they were not against investigations against those involved in the Easter Sunday attack but the true culprits should be arrested.
