Speaker appoints 18 MPs to the Committee on High Posts

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene named 18 members for the Committee on High Posts in Parliament yesterday.   

They included: Chamal Rajapaksa, Nimal Siripala de Silva, Dinesh Gunawardena, Johnston Fernando, Douglas Devananda, Bandula Gunawardene, Keheliya Rambukwella, Udaya Gammanpila, Ramesh Pathirana, Sudharshani Fernandopulle, Vidura Wickramanayake, John Seneviratne, Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, Vijitha Herath, Rishad Bathiudeen, Talatha Athukorala and Sarath Fonseka.  The main task of the Committee is to look into whether persons named by the President to important posts such as heads of Sri Lankan diplomatic missions, secretaries of ministries and heads of Corporations are eligible to hold such posts.
