We expect the govt. to release the nation from the bondage of capitalism: Cardinal

We expect the government to release the nation from the bondage of capitalism and see that national resources are divided among people equally, Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Ranjith said yesterday.   
“Market economy was introduced in 1978 and it brought selfishness into the society. We expect the government to change this situation as the mandate given to them was for such a change,” Cardinal Ranjith told media.   
He also said he is confident and optimistic that the incumbent government will bring justice to the Easter Sunday bomb victims by uncovering the truth.  
Responding to questions posed by reporters, the Cardinal stated, “The government briefs us from time to time on the progress of the investigations.”  
“The government seems to be carrying out a transparent probe into the carnage. This becomes evident from the conversations they have with us on the progress of the investigations,” he stressed. As such, we are optimistic that the perpetrators will be brought to book,” the Cardinal reiterated.
