Welder killed by exploding carbide tank

A welder in a motor vehicle workshop at Kendahenawatta in Ranala in Nawagamuwa had succumbed to his injuries when a carbide tank he was working with exploded. Investigations revealed that he had been attending to some welding work on a vehicle when the carbide tank had exploded.  The victim A.P. Ajith Weerasinhe (47) was a father of two children and resident of Walawwatta in Ranala.   Police said the carbide tank belonging to the victim had been in an unserviceable condition and that it could have resulted in the accident.   Nawagamuwa Police are conducting further investigations.
