BBS – HINDFOS join hands to declare amity month

 The Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) chief, Ven. Kirama Wimalajothi Thera yesterday said that it was high time to select a well educated and disciplined youths to govern the country and to dissolve the monopoly of dishonest and prejudice politicians those who had already governed the country.
The prelate said that these ‘neither local nor foreign politicians’ were created by the colonial rulers who governed the country under the ‘divide and rule’ policy.
“There are locals who had been brain washed by the West before they left Sri Lanka. These locals are the eyes and ears of the Imperialism and they comprise of both Sinhalese and Tamils. They are so narrow-minded that they do not let Sinhalese and Tamils to unite,” he said.
Addressing a news conference to declare the Buddhist and Hindu Amity Month, he said that Hindus and Buddhists should not be manipulated by corrupt politicians.
The BBS, in collaboration with the Hindu Federation of Sri Lanka (HINDFOS) has declared a Buddhist and Hindu Amity Month from October 22 with the objective of enhancing the relationship between two religious groups.
N. Arunkanthan, the Chairman of the HINDOF said that they have arranged a series of activities to implement during the amity month.
“We have made provisions to hold tree planting ceremonies in Buddhist Temples with the participation of Hindu clergies and in Hindu Temples with Buddhist clergies. We will select religious worshipping places in each district for tree planting. A summit and lectures for the school children on Buddhist and Hindu amity are also scheduled to be held,” Mr. Arunkanthan said.
He also said that a discussion between Buddhist and Hindu clergies of North and East Provinces is also scheduled to be held during the month. “We will hold the Buddhist and Hindu Amity month every year,” he concluded.
