We in Sri Lanka are shocked beyond belief that Jayalalithaaa and her Mongrels have had the brass to want to release the assassins of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, the son of Prime Minister Indira and the grandson of the great Jawarhalal Nehru. These pro-LTTE scum no doubt were happy that Rajiv was assassinated.
Rajiv was no   sympathiser of the LTTE or their wanting to set up a separate state in Sri Lanka.Sending a deadly message to Tamil Nadu, he always wanted justice for the Tamil  people of Sri Lanka and for them to share that in the governance of the country.

"Perhaps Prabhakaran expected India to hand over the Northern and Eastern Provinces to them to establish their Separate State of Eelam. Since that did not happen he declared war on the IPKF"

Both the then High Commissioner Stanley Kalpage and I had The privilege of meeting Rajiv Gandhi many times; though he had lost  the Premiership to VP Singh he continued to maintain an interest in the situation in Sri Lanka. Mr. Gandhi’s then PS George would bear me out, Mr Mani Shankar Iyar who was close to Mr. G was  also present on more than one occasion. My own impression of him was that he trusted   a little too much.. It was indeed a pity that he let himself be tricked by LTTE operatives who called on him in Delhi and  made him believe that no harm would come to him if he campaigned in Tamil Nadu – and we know what the LTTE did --- incidentally did either Karunanidhi or Jayalalithaa openly condemned the LTTE for their dastardly act which changed the history of India and most definitely of the sub-continent,

I was shocked to read in an Indian newspaper that the motive for the assassination was because Rajiv stopped the Vadamarachchi operation and prevented the LTTE from winning the war! The contrary was the truth for we were about to finish off the LTTE  with that operation; perhaps Prabhakaran expected India to hand over the Northern and Eastern Provinces to them to establish their Separate State of Eelam. Since that did not happen he declared war on the IPKF.
If a separate state was established in Sri Lanka that would have begun the disintegration of India with the establishment of the Republic of Tamil Nadu which was called off because of their war with China.

It was July 1987 and three decades have passed since we were bullied into entering into that Indo-Lanka Agreement. President J. R. Jayawardane was left with no option as India after having violated our territorial integrity by flying into Sri Lanka and indulging in that infamous food-drop, threatened to invade our country unless we agreed to call off the Vadamarachchi operation when we were on the verge of finishing off the LTTE. India of course paid a heavy price for having intervened in Sri Lanka  with over one thousand two hundred Indian Javans dead and a few thousands more maimed by the LTTE. What the IPKF did when they were in control of the North has been described as the ‘war crimes’ in the LTTE publication Satanic Force.

This attempt to release three of those convicted of assassinating the former Prime Minister of the country to win votes can only be described aptly as a ‘damn disgrace’ most fortunately Prime Minister Man Mohan had  to intervene to save the face of the nation. This alone serves to  expose what scum  have taken to politics, there is no  doubt that this horrific act was done to win votes at the forthcoming General Elections and serves to expose the values of their voters and their leaders.
Where is justice? Rajiv’s son and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi had said that he was saddened by the decision. ” I am  personally against the death penalty but this is not about my father.

If a Prime Minister’s killers are being released, what kind of justice should the common man expect?” he said.”The Congress Party condemns the decision,” It is most definetely guided solely by political considerations to suit sectarian vested interests.
But a measure of how emotive the Sri Lankan Tamil issue still is in Tamil Nadu , and how much of an electoral hot potato, could be gauged by the reaction of Finance Minister P Chidambaram, an otherwise sensible man, who told NDTV that he was “not unhappy” with the decision.

"Rajiv was no   sympathiser of the LTTE or their wanting to set up a separate state in Sri Lanka, sending a deadly message to Tamil Nadu, he always wanted justice for the Tamil  people of Sri Lanka and for them to share that in the governance of the country"

Seven suspects were jailed after the 1991 assassination of Rajiv by a Sri Lankan suicide bomber in Sriperumbudur near Chennai.
The killers owe allegiance to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), targeted Rajiv because he did not help them to set up their separate state.
Tamil nationalism has once again revived using the conflict in our country as an excuse and appears to be boiling over because of the forthcoming General Elections Tamil Nadu having the largest number (Tamil Nadu has 49 plus one in the Lok Sabha) in any future coalition. Who knows Jayalalithaa may demand the Premiership of India!!!!.
