CDB’s support for National Pandemic Response crosses Rs. 50 mn



 

Citizens Development Business Finance PLC (CDB) has surpassed Rs. 50 million in its National Pandemic Response effort which included contributions to the national healthcare system and support of communities impacted during the lockdown. 


The most recent response was the presentation of five oxygen concentrators to the Ministry of Health. The concentrators were handed over to the Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena by the Directors of CDB.  


The equipment amounted to Rs. 12.5 million.  The ventilators will be distributed to the Methsirisevana Covid Treatment Centre in Anuradhapura, District General Hospital Vavuniya, Welikanda Covid Treatment Center Polonnaruwa and the Base Hospitals in Embilipitiya and Tangalle.


Since the onset of the pandemic, CDB’s contributions towards the National Pandemic Response has included Rs. 10 million to the National Operations Center for Prevention of Covid-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) to construct a quarantine centre.  


In addition, CDB presented medical equipment including HDU beds, multi-parameters and a wall oxygen piping system worth Rs. 8.8 million to the Intermediate Care Center at the Boossa Naval Base. Rs. 10.2 million of medical equipment were donated to the Gampaha District General Hospital including an ICU monitor and ventilator.
To the District Hospital Kandana and Colombo East Base Hospital Mulleriyawa, medical equipment worth Rs. 4.1 million, including HDU beds and wall oxygen piping systems were donated.


With volunteerism ingrained in the hearts and minds of Team CDB, it was heartening to have the entire team step up to assist those most impacted during lockdown, CDB said.
The team engaged with deserving families around the country to distribute 1,500 packs of dry rations worth Rs. 8 million through the CDB network of 71 branches.
