DMM of FMSC, USJ celebrates 25th anniversary

A ceremony was held to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Department of Marketing Management (DMM), Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce (FMSC), University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ), at the Senate Boardroom of USJ, on February 23rd. 


Present on the occasion were Senior Prof. Sudantha Liyanage, Vice Chancellor, USJ, Prof. P.D. Nimal, Dean, FMSC, Prof. AmilaJ ayarathna, Head, DMM, Registrar, USJ, Academic staff of the DMM and other Departments, Alumni of the DMM, students and non-academic staff. The celebrations were streamed live via the virtual platform, to reach a wider audience. 


As part of the celebrations, the ‘Sparkle in Marketing’ Magazine which is a testimony of the 25-year legacy of the DMM was launched. The occasion saw the launch of the Asian Journal of Marketing Management, a bi-annual peer review journal which disseminates new knowledge by publishing scholarly papers that comprehensively investigate contemporary and critical real-world scenarios in marketing. 


Additionally, the occasion was a launching pad for the Local Marketing Flavour 1.0 - Sri Lankan Case Study Book which is an accumulation of Sri Lankan-based cases developed by the academic staff of the DMM. A panel discussion was held, on the topic ‘Savour the flavour of research practice in Marketing,’ which included academics and alumni of the DMM belonging to both the public and corporate sectors, who shared their insights, enriching the proceedings. The DMM, FMSC, USJ is the pioneering Department in the discipline of Marketing Management in the national university system in Sri Lanka.
