David Pieris refurbishes hoardings at Minneriya National Park



Kosala Ratnayake officially handing over the relevant documents to Bhathiya Madugalle

 

Completing yet another social welfare project, David Pieris Group recently sponsored a set of Hoardings and Mini Hoardings displayed at Minneriya National Park featuring conservation messages for the 19th consecutive year.


As an initiative of Social Welfare Committee of David Pieris Group, 20 hoardings and 24 mini hoardings along with 07 new mini hoardings were executed under this project.  


These hoardings were officially handed over to the Minneriya National Park Warden Bathiya Madugalle by Kosala Ratnayake, Deputy General Manager (Vehicle Sales Operations), David Pieris Motor Company (Private) Limited.
At the handing over ceremony, David Pieris Group also announced that they will sponsor the cost of the labour for regular cleaning the stretch of the park bordering the road from Minneriya to Habarana for the 4th consecutive year.


Addressing the occasion Kosala Ratnayake said, “Despite various difficulties that has emerged because of the current pandemic situation, we, as a responsible corporate citizen, do not hesitate to do our part for the environment and wildlife. 


The David Pieris Group has been working with Minneriya National Park for over 19 years and will continue to support in every way possible in the years to come.”


Minneriya National Park warden Bathiya Madugalle expressed his gratitude to the David Pieris Group on behalf of the Department of Wildlife Conservation.


In addition to supporting environmental conservation, David Pieris Group’s Social Welfare Committee has sponsored educational programmes, medical equipment required by local hospitals as well as extended financial assistance towards those who suffer from critical illnesses, people with disability, public transport facilities in rural areas and several programmes for empowering women through training in entrepreneurship.
