Dialog Axiata with Manusath Derana extends Nana Diri Data scholarships to more students

As part of its continued efforts to ensure that no child is left behind in continuing their education, Dialog Axiata PLC together with Manusath Derana successfully facilitated 103,478 schoolchildren from 470 schools across the country in their online learning from home with Data Scholarships under the ‘Nana Diri Data Scholarship’ programme.


Initiated in July this year, through the Nana Diri Data Scholarship programme, which falls under the ‘Dialog Axiata with Manusath Derana’ initiative, each student was offered 10GB Data for their educational purposes for 3 months. 


Speaking on this occasion, Supun Weerasinghe, Group Chief Executive of Dialog Axiata PLC said, “In the backdrop of the pandemic we are pleased to have supported our nation in bridging the digital divide while also providing financial relief to the parents of these deserving schoolchildren. 


With the impact caused to the education sector in the wake of the COVID-19 lockdown, Dialog remains committed to supporting our nation’s schoolchildren with their academic pursuits by equipping them with the resources to excel in their education and facilitate the means to pursue a brighter future.”


This is yet another initiative by Dialog in its continued efforts of supporting students across the country with their educational endeavours. Dialog, through the Dialog Foundation, powers a range of educational platforms under the Nenasa initiative including; Nenasa TV, Nenasa Educational App, the Nenasa Smart School programme and the toll-free Nenasa 1916 distance learning helpline. The Dialog Merit Scholarship schemes support the higher education of high-achieving students. 


In addition to this initiative, Dialog also extended free access to its education bouquet Nenasa Sinhala, Nenasa Tamil and Guru TV channels through Dialog Television and the ViU App. 


Most recently, in celebration of World Children’s Day 2021, the company extended free Broadband connectivity to all 379 Child Development Centres island-wide.


Furthermore, the company has extended free access without any data charges to e-Thaksalawa, the National Learning Content Management System (LCMS)/Learning Management System (LMS), and to all official e-Learning platforms of State universities.
