Kumarika has stepped-up efforts to help cancer patients to cope with hair loss as a result of chemotherapy with ‘Sonduru Diriyawanthi’ campaign.
Women who undergo chemotherapy consider hair loss to be one of the most traumatic experiences during this difficult journey. Hair loss occurs during the first, two-four weeks of starting chemotherapy and such women should be supported in every possible way .
Realizing the need to uplift these women, Kumarika, continues to support the central province with their purpose driven campaign ‘Sonduru Diriyawanthi’.
The campaign aims to donate 6000 hair care packs that includes a shoulder length natural wig with an adjustable strap, a set of Kumarika products including Kumarika Shampoo & Conditioner, Kumarika Hair serum, Kumarika hair oil and a booklet containing important information for cancer patients.
The second phase of this national campaign took place at the National Hospital in Kandy donating the first set of 50 hair care packs which will be continued monthly.
This initiative is a first of its kind in Sri Lanka and is carried out in partnership with Indira Cancer Trust and the Lion’s Club of Aluthgama, Bentota and Galkissa and with the support of The Ministry of Health and the Sri Lanka College of Oncologists.
