American & Efird (A&E) Lanka, a fully owned subsidiary of one of the world’s premier industrial sewing thread manufacturer American & Efird LLC, USA, recently stepped up as a key partner for the upcoming ‘Swim’ by Colombo Fashion Week (CFW) to be held on the 7th and 8th August at Hilton Colombo.
Launching for the first ever time in Sri Lanka by CFW, Swim, a season of its own, will continue to be an annual event or rather platform for local and international swimwear designers and manufacturers. Sri Lanka, a country already known to the industry as one of the best apparel sourcing destinations with world-class manufacturing capabilities, has showed immense potential during the past few years to be a hub for swimwear.
Showcasing talent for a decade now, CFW is one of the four main fashion weeks in the Asian region and has initiated many shows and projects in uplifting Sri Lanka’s fashion industry since its inception, providing a variety of opportunities and global recognition to aspiring local designers.
Mr. Priyantha Aluthwatte, Managing Director of A&E Lanka, said ‘’We are a brand chosen by apparel manufacturers for any and all seasons and with the swimwear category exhibiting an increasing demand in Sri Lanka we’re more than delighted to have partnered the first-ever annual Swim season of CFW which we hope will be a leading swimwear show in the global landscape in years to come.’’
A & E Lanka will be exhibiting the swim theme display area using creative elements of interactivity and an innovative, artistic installation made out of thread will be auctioned towards a philanthropic purpose during the fashion event.
As part of one of the world’s largest manufacturers and distributors of industrial sewing thread, embroidery thread and technical textiles, A&E Lanka operates with state of the art manufacturing and a total commitment to quality. A&E Lanka boasts a large share of the Sri Lanka market for sewing thread.
A&E has been in the fashion industry for more than 120 years and has continuously been recognized for its leading edge technology, orchestrated delivery logistics, continuous and sustained innovation, peak process efficiency, dedicated and flexible service and wide spectrum product portfolio.
Through its global network, A&E’s products are manufactured in 23 countries, distributed in 50 countries and sold in over 100 countries. In recent years, A&E has increased its global product offerings through its acquisitions, very recent one being European-based Gütermann, a leading European manufacturer and distributor of premium, high-quality sewing thread, amongst Ludlow®, Robison-Anton® and Synthetic Thread, well known manufacturing companies of quality industrial sewing thread, technical textiles and embroidery yarns and thread.
