Browns marks entry into healthcare biz with soft opening of 70-bed hospital in Ragama



Browns Healthcare, a fullyowned subsidiary of Brown & Company PLC, yesterday announced the soft opening of Browns Hospital Ragama, marking the diversified firm’s entry into the country’s healthcare sector.

 


Browns acquired St. Peter’s Hospital Ragama, a private hospital, late 2012 for Rs.135 million and announced a full refurbishment of the facility with an investment of Rs.1.35 billion to transform it into a fully-fledged multi-specialty 70-bed hospital.Present at t he soft opening were Browns Group Executive Chairman Ishara Nanayakkara, board of directors, senior management, Browns Hospitals/ Healthcare Director/CEO Dr. Sajeeva Narangoda, consultants and doctors.Blessing the launch of t his new hospital took the form of a religious ceremony conducted by the multi-religious clergy.

 


Browns Hospital Ragama is the latest venture of Brown & Company PLC and the first in a chain of secondary care general hospitals and diagnostic centres aimed at delivering high-quality care through comprehensive, integrated clinical practice and personalised care, to every patient.Armed with the strong family brand name of ‘Browns’, this hospital will reach out to both rural and urban citizens in Sri Lanka with a range of innovative and patient-centric solutions.
