A new initiative to promote good tyre maintenance habits among motorists has been launched in Sri Lanka by CEAT Kelani Holdings, the company that manufactures half of the country’s tyre requirements.

The first phase of the initiative comprises of mobile tyre clinics at 50 corporate entities and includes free tyre checks for air pressure and tread wear, advice on how to get better mileage and enhance safety, and free services such as nitrogen filling and tyre changing, the company said.

CEAT Tyre Care Clinics have already been conducted at the head office and two other locations of Nations Trust Bank (NTB), and at Orange Electric, Kelani Cables, and Prime Lands (Pvt) Ltd. Many other leading businesses in Sri Lanka are to be visited over the next three months to provide these services.

“Tyres are often taken for granted by motorists, who underestimate the role they play in safety, comfort and the mechanical wellbeing of the vehicle,” said Ravi Dadlani, Vice President Sales & Marketing at CEAT Kelani Holdings.  “As the highest selling tyre brand in Sri Lanka, CEAT has taken the lead in driving awareness on how motorists can get the best out of their tyres, regardless of which brand they use.”

“These tyre clinics also offer an opportunity for motorists who have not used CEAT radial tyres before to try our range and experience the difference,” Dadlani said.

A specially constructed mobile tyre service unit and a team of technical experts and mechanics visit each corporate location under this initiative, and employees of each company are notified in advance of the clinic dates.

In addition to having their tyres checked, switched or changed as necessary, visitors to these clinics can also have their tyres filled free of charge with nitrogen which improves mileage,  and all visitors to the clinic receive vouchers that entitle them to a discount on their next purchase of CEAT tyres.

CEAT is the market leader in Sri Lanka’s radial tyre segment and holds leadership positions in several commercial tyre segments as well. Earlier this year, the company also launched a series of speciality tyres manufactured locally in six sizes for heavy duty service and industrial applications.

A global tyre brand present in 110 countries and now headquartered in India, CEAT is an acronym that stands for Cavi Electrici Affini Torino, or Electrical Cables & Allied Products of Turin, with origins that date back to 1924 in Italy. A National Business Excellence Award winner in 2010, 2011, and 2012 and a National Quality Award winner in the ‘Manufacturing – Large’ category in 2013, CEAT – Kelani Holdings is a successful Indo-Sri Lanka joint venture between the RPG Group of India and Kelani Tyre Sri Lanka.
