“We have now been in sri lanka for the past three years it has been an outstanding journey, today we have as many as twelve restaurants in sri lanka which are mostly around greater Colombo. Our plan was of course were more aggressive, we wanted to be at around fifteen to twenty store by now, real estate has played as a bit of challenge, but in terms of all our objectives we had, in terms of level of our operation, quality of our people, quality of our pizzas, becoming number one in the delivery segment, we have achieve all of them.

The good thing is that over the last three years Jubilant Foodworks has made an investment of nearly 7 Million USD and we’ve also been lucky to create as many 300 jobs for youngsters in Colombo which is exciting because job creation is always a great thing and all our team is local including our country GM Mr. Niroshan De Silva and that gives us sight that there is so much of talent in sri lanka which we are able to utilize efficiently. Sri Lanka as a market for Domino’s in the world has reached several mile stones and Sri lanka operations was also rated number one in terms of operations among some 80 countries of Domino’s Worldwide, which means operationally how well we have the stores, how well we satisfy customers, in terms of image Sri Lanka is rated as number one, so that give us a lot of joy.

For Jubilant Foodworks the sri lanka macro-Economic indicators tell us that the economy is on the upswing along with the kind of foreign investments that are already happening and infrastructure development. So, if I am to talk about how we see sri lanka in three to five years we believe that Domino’s should have at least forty to fifty stores by the time we finish another five years which would be probably be around two to three billion INR more and we already have a factory we have spent on about 1 Million USD which is serving all these restaurants, we are even planning to go outside of Colombo to places like Jaffna, Kandy and so forth.

At some stage in the future, since Jubilant Foodworks also has the rights to open Dunkin Doughnuts as a brand in Sri Lanka, we believe that within another one or two year period we should also be in a position to launch Dunkin Doughnuts in Sri Lanka. There is no set time frame to that but we are keen to launch it. And the last thing is that I would like to mention is that we are bringing in a new concept of Domino’s stores which we have launched in other parts of the world, even for Sri Lanka now, the latest store which is being created and it’s called a pizza theater concept where the stores are developed in an ultra-modern set up as they would be anywhere in the world.

Where if you walk into a store you can exactly see how your pizza is being made with all the theatrics and you can even call it drama if you may. You will be able to how the saucing and cheesing is done, how many pizzas and how fast it is being made and even for the children there are elevated steps from where they can actually see the whole thing happening. The whole idea is to give that experience to our consumer. So, we are at a stage today where we have made significant progress in Sri Lanka and we believe that our future is very much bright as far as Sri Lanka is concerned.”
