Gotabaya and Roshini Cabraal resign from Lanka Hospitals



Lanka Hospitals Corporation PLC Chairman Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Deputy Chairperson Roshini Cabraal resigned from their posts in the company on January 9, according to an announcement made to the Colombo Stock Exchange.Rajapaksa, the brother of outgoing President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the previous Defence Secretary, had resigned prior to Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya announcing the winner of the Presidential Elections.

 


A Chartered Accountant with over 30 years experience, Roshini Cabraal is the wife of Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal; who handed over his resignation to the office of the President early morning the same day.



Ajith Nivard Cabraal was the main architect of ex-President Rajapaksa’s eponymous Mahinda Chintana plan. He, together with Treasury Secretary Dr. P. B. Jayasundera created, and advised the President on many policy directions relating to the country’s economy. Lanka Hospitals said that both Rajapaksa and Cabraal held no shares during their tenures.


State-controlled Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation Ltd owns 54.61 percent of the shares in Lanka Hospitals Corporation through its Life and General arms.
Singapore’s Fortis Global Healthcare Holdings Pte Ltd. holds 28.66 percent and Bank of Ceylon subsidiary Property Development Plc holds 9.53 percent in the company.
