In a landmark partnership in national healthcare, Hemas Hospitals signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the government owned National Insurance Trust Fund (NITF), to be the preferred hospital for their members. Through the partnership, government sector employees who are entitled to NITF’s health insurance scheme called ‘Agrahara’, can avail themselves of high quality private healthcare services at specially discounted rates from any of the Hemas Hospitals’ multi-chain. The MOU was signed by NITF’s Chief Executive, Sanath C De Silva and Managing Director, Hemas Hospitals chain Dr Lakith Peiris in the presence of NITF’s Chairman Manjula De Silva and Chairman Hemas Hospitals and Group Director, Murtaza Esufally.

The union of Hemas Hospitals and NITF means that all public sector employee who are automatically ‘Agrahara’ members are entitled to any of the 58 surgical packages at discounted rates, especially designed for NITF. Other benefits include in patient discounts such as 10% discount on the room charges, 10% discount on all laboratory investigations and 10% discount on radiology investigations. Out patients will have a special 10% discount on all lab investigations plus a 10% discount on radiology investigations. 

Chairman of NITF, Manjula De Silva, speaking on the affiliation, said that presently there are over 700,000 government sector employees who are ‘Agrahara’ members and over 2.5 million beneficiaries. “We are very pleased to be partnering Hemas Hospitals and enabling our members access to private, top class healthcare” he explained.
