University of Moratuwa (UOM) has recognized OpenArc as the partner organization to offer Bachelor of Information Technology Degree of University of Moratuwa, commencing from the new intake in February 2015.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding took place at the University of Moratuwa on January 21st. The specialty of the degree offered by the University of Moratuwa is that their students are employed 100 percent even before graduating, especially in the ICT Industry. OpenArc as an IT School and a software company has been providing educational services and software solutions to the nation saving millions of foreign exchange to the country. OpenArc Campus has been feeding the software development company with talented human resources for the world class software projects undertaken by them. Through this process it has been evolved as an ‘Industrial Campus’ that has been producing highly employable IT graduates. At the OpenArc Industrial Campus, senior Software Engineers engaged in practical software projects take part in teaching and students get the opportunity to work in software projects as early as second year of their graduate study programme.
OpenArc involvement with BIT of University of Colombo goes back to the inception of the program in the year 2000. The OpenArc campus has added many practical components to the degree and is offering ‘Industrial BIT’ with Industrial training and Job guarantee. OpenArc Campus students have produced very good results in BIT since the inception of the degree programme. Our students produced best island-wide results in the very first examination. The recent achievements of OpenArc students include “Best Island wide project i n 2001 and 2013”, two First classes in 2012 and “Best Results in 2013 semester 1 examination”. On top of weekend / Part Time programme, the Campus has introduced a ‘Full Time BIT’ degree program as well and it has so many additional study areas to prepare the students for the ICT Industry. They will do at least two additional projects in the industry on top of the degree components.
