Sri Lanka orders 125,000 motorcycles from India’s Bajaj



India’s Bajaj Auto Limited has secured an order of 125,000 Bajaj Discover-125M motorcycles from the Sri Lanka government, which are expected to be provided to government officials at subsidiary prices.

 


“The company has now secured a repeat order from them through the company’s distributor in Sri Lanka for the supply of 1.25 lakh units of Discover-125M, which the company expects to execute in the next three to four months,” a company statement said.The deal was facilitated through its local distributor David Pieris Motor Company.Bajaj had earlier also won an order for 50,000 bikes, of which 48,000 have already been delivered.New motorcycle registrations for October and November 2014 hit record highs, with 35,462 and 37,592, respectively, according to JB Securities Ltd.
