Latest addition to the SLT Rainbow Pages product line
SLT Publications (Pvt.) Ltd., popularly known as Rainbow Pages is the country’s only directory information publisher. Originally this company was part of SLT but spun off to enable it to become a new subsidiary. This helped the new subsidiary to forge ahead in the directory publishing domain to encompass bigger and broader dimensions. Whilst being at the forefront of introducing new technologies to disseminate information, this new entity serves the local and global community by introducing the latest cutting - edge products such as the Directory CD, WAP for Mobile Phone Users, Web Portal www.rainbowpages.lk, Call Center Service and Rainbow Pages on IPTV.
The e directory which is the latest addition to the Rainbow Pages product line was commercially launched by Mr. Greg Young the Chief Executive Officer of Sri Lanka Telecom PLC at a ceremony held at the Galadari Hotel.
Speaking at the launch Mr. Malraj Balapitiya, the CEO of SLT Publications (Pvt.) said that "this is actually transforming printed Directory into a electronic Directory - line with the current digital lifestyle which is a hallmark of modern society. It also fulfills the long felt need for a new medium similar to the printed directory with a customer friendly digital version to search for any desired product or service anytime, anywhere". E Directory is published using the most advanced eBook technologies and has the same look and feel of the printed version and will be of added value to advertisers as they can expose their products to new markets. It is a page-turn publication of extremely small file size, easy to download and most convenient to store in a PC or laptop to be viewed at home, office or car whenever it's needed. A copy could be received via email or CD too. Another feature of the e directory is that it is scalable to fit any screen size. Unlike the printed directory, the web link will provide direct logging onto the respective web site.
Mr Balapitiya further said that "telephone users in Sri Lanka have drastically increased and reached nearly 17 million now. Providing the SLT Printed Directory to such large numbers is not possible due to practical reasons. Thus, e version of the directory will provide a solution as it is almost the same directory and could be easily downloaded by local and overseas computer users free - of - charge without any hassle".
With this product Rainbow Pages is able to offer its advertisers the wonderful advantage of increased mileage as this is exposed to millions of computer users who access information.
Mr. Greg Young the CEO of SLT said that "today technology has enabled the spread of information in ways never before imagined possible and these innovative solutions have to be harnessed in positive ways to empower consumers to make better decisions to decide on relevant products and services. In this context the latest product unveiled is the e Directory which will play a vital role in bringing about national productivity".
Initially the e version of the Classified Directory of the Central and Uva Provinces will be made available. The Western Province Directory in electronic format will be available during the latter part of the year soon after the 2010/2011 Western Province directory is launched.
According to Mr. Ruwan Wijetunga, the General Manager of Rainbow Pages, "a giant Raffle Draw with mega prizes to be won has been organized to encourage computers users to download the E directory".
