Every classroom from Grade 1 to Grade 5 at Colombo Sirimavo Bandaranaike College has been upgraded to a smart classroom. Education Minister Susil Premajayantha officially handed them over to the students, with Principal Dr. Sumedha Jayaweera also present at the event.
A protest was held in front of Kingswood College, Kandy by teachers, parents and the school’s Old Boys’ Association against the immediate transfer of the principal. The protesters are demanding the government to cancel the transfer, as they believe the principal has significantly improved the school’s education and the talents of the students.

The Restore Hope Project, under the auspices of the Tarana Foundation, reaffirmed its commitment to the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children with a significant donation of medical equipment valued at Rs. 7.5 million. The Esala festival in Ruhunu Kataragama Maha Devala ended after the water cutting ceremony last morning at Jeewamali ferry in Menikganga. The Kapurala performing the rite was brought to the venue of the ceremony in a palanquin. The first pot of water collected from the site was taken to Valliamma Devala after performing traditional rites.

The Silver Chariot Festival at Sri New Kathireashan Temple in Colombo took place yesterday. The festival featured two cows pulling a silver chariot carrying a statue of a Hindu god. A significant number of Hindu devotees participated in the colorful event, which also included traditional Kavadi dancers, showcasing Hindu culture.
