A Christmas carol service which is the first of its kind in the world, where more than 50 pairs of twins participated in the service, was held at the St. Anthony’s Church in Mahara Kadawatha yesterday. The organizers were seeking an entry into the Guinness Book of World Records for the event. The songs were also written by the twins. The concert was organized by the Sri Lanka Twin Organization.

The world’s largest single natural corundum (blue sapphire) which is named ’Queen of Asia’ was displayed at the owner’s residence in Horana. The owner, Chamila Suranga Pannilaarachchi, told the media that several local businessmen have offered US$100 million for this corundum.
