Appointing envoys to foreign countries to represent the interests of our country is a responsibility devolved on Number One. He has already taken action to appoint envoys to a number of countries.
However, our bigwigs have failed so far to pick a suitable new face to be appointed as our envoy to a very important country in Asia. When appointing an envoy, the concurrence of the guest government is also sought as a matter of tradition. When the appointment was getting delayed, two big guns of the guest country visited here. The bigwigs of the Asian country in question had during the talks with our high authorities proposed a name themselves which, of course, was a departure from the norm. The name they had proposed is said to be that of a former top team member currently leading a prominent academic group. He is also said to be having close ties with VVIPs at the global level.
Our high authorities had later offered the post to the person who was the choice of the big guns of the Asian country. But he had turned down the offer marking a rare incident in a country where there is an eternal rat race for high office!
