There is a Blue stalwart from Wayamba who cast his lot with the Pohottuwa at a very late stage. A well-known film fan, this politico had earlier held high office both in the Blue party and the Blue party-led regimes. 

He was not offered a high position when the new Pohottuwa took office. However, he did not kick up any row about not getting a position in keeping with his seniority. He just quietly remained as a backbencher.

The other day, this politico had met a regime bigwig and he had asked the latter: 

“I am a very senior Diyawanna member. But I have been pushed down to a back row. Have I got to continue to occupy a back-row seat?”

The regime bigwig had replied: “No! No! You will occupy a seat in a front-row beginning late January next year!”
The Diyawanna member from Wayamba had greeted this reply with a grateful smile and a “thank you, Sir!”
