Australian Gold Medalist joins Ride for Ceylon 2025

Ride for Ceylon Co Founders, David Rasiah and Sriomal De Silva, eagerly discuss news about Ride for Ceylon’s expansion program to redevelop iconic and historic hospitals in Sri Lanka.

The 9th annual tour of Jaffna will commence in Colombo on 12th February 2025 and finish at Green Memorial Hospital on 15th February.

The cyclists will cover a distance of approximately 460kms over the 4 days.

The international allure of this event is emphasised by the broad spectrum of nationalities participating in the venture. With a large contingent from Canada, as well as riders from Australia, UK, USA, France, Norway, Singapore, Switzerland and Sri Lanka, a total of just over 75 riders will pedal their way from south to north.

Additionally, R4C are enthusiastic and greatly honoured to announce that Australian Olympic Gold Medal cyclist, Scott McGrory, will be joining Ride4Ceylon as their new Brand Ambassador.

With a glittering career in cycling and a wealth of experience, Scott will definitely be a huge asset to the team.

The winner of the Gold Medal (with Brett Aitken) in the Madison at the Sydney Olympics in 2000, a Silver in the Madison at the 1996 UCI Track Cycling World Championships and a Bronze Medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics in the Team Pursuit, Scott’s expertise is vast.

Furthermore, Scott has represented his country in Road Race events and will also be one of Channel 9’s commentators at this year’s Summer Olympics in Paris.

England Rugby Player, Dan Norton, and American artist, Dr Pia de Girolamo, make up the trio of Brand Ambassadors.

Trinushka Perera will be the new Ride Chair. And as in previous years, R4C will be supported by the Sri Lanka Tourist Promotion Bureau. Asiri Hospitals and Sri Lankan Airlines, with the security services being provided by the Sri Lanka Police.
