From its origins as a school career fair, the EDEX Mid-Year Expo has grown into a respected name in the education sector, steadfast in its mission to aid students in urban, rural, and remote areas by providing awareness of their choices and opportunities in post-secondary education, leading to gainful employment of the Sri Lankan youth, thus helping them reach the pinnacle of achievement.
The EDEX Mid-Year Expo ‘Job Fair’ and ‘Careers Portal,’ integral components of the EDEX Expo are set to take place at this year’s Mid-Year Expo at the BMICH. The Job Fair, featuring representatives from leading Sri Lankan corporates, will provide on-site interviews and on-the-spot recruitment opportunities.
The EDEX Mid-Year Expo is the ideal platform, helping the youth of the country take a step forward in their career. EDEX Careers will offer free psychometric testing facilities, conducted by professional career guidance counsellors, for both students and job seekers of all ages. This will help them determine the best career paths for their individual personalities and character traits. Additionally, the event will include career seminars conducted by leading professionals and subject experts, covering key trending topics.
The psychometric testing will be a questionnaire, to be filled by the candidate, which will be evaluated by the counsellors, who will then conduct a one-on-one session with the respective candidates (and in the case of students, their parents) to discuss the best opportunities available to them, based on their unique background and skills.
Sharing his thoughts on the upcoming Expo., Director of EDEX Careers Mahesha Weerasinha explained that this would be a great opportunity for the youth to learn more about how to develop their skills and use them in work environments. “The seminars and counselling will be aimed at shaping young minds to understand their skills and play to their strengths,” he stated.
The EDEX Mid-Year Expo has a longstanding affiliation with the ‘Ceylon Career Guidance Association’ (CCGA), serving as a “Strategic Partner,” with professional counsellors at the Expo, prepared to offer free career guidance to the nation’s next-generation.
The Careers Team works diligently to identify the most popular and trending career topics, enlisting relevant experts to conduct insightful mini-seminars, typically running for about half an hour. Such is the relevance of the content shared by expert resource personnel that participants of the Expo have been known to visit the expo solely to attend the respective seminars. This year, attendees of the seminars also stand a chance to win exciting prizes.
The EDEX Mid-Year Expo will kick off at 9:30 am and conclude at 6:00 pm from 6th to 8th September, at the BMICH. Students can Pre-register for the pre-event seminar series via the EDEX FB page.
