From background player to industry-wide trendsetter, serviced workspaces in Sri Lanka are primed and ready to finally deliver on what their strongest advocates have long known to be true. Leading this shift is Elegance Workspaces, which opened their newest luxury workspace in Rajagiriya.
While most serviced workspaces offer a base set of features, Elegance goes a step further; bearing the trademark chic flourishes and rich interior it has fast become known for, Elegance has stacked its workspaces with a myriad of services and amenities to go with its exquisite design.
Wi-Fi, maintenance, security, access control, tea/coffee and even a gym, are all readily available to its members so that they can place all their focus on growing their businesses. Meanwhile an ample number of work desks, private suites and open lounge spaces, to go with a spacious shared spaces and a roof top terrace, help create a conducive environment to inspire one’s best work.
“We live and die by one mantra that is ‘happiness’. We take our members’ happiness very seriously,” stated Ganatharan Jeyakumar, Elegance Founder Director, during his opening speech at the launch of Elegance Rajagiriya, which was declared open by Director of Brandix Group Mr. Aslam Omar.
“We ensure that we provide our members with extraordinary facilities, beautiful design, good ambience, a good vibe, and a positive aura within our spaces, so that they can do what they do best, while we take care of everything else” he added.
Elegance though doesn’t stop there. Since the launch of their flagship workspace in Colombo 07 in November 2019, Elegance has turned on its head the notion that such spaces were predominantly the domain of freelancers, start-ups and entrepreneurs.
Boasting a host of Fortune 500 companies and MNC’s such as Dell, Fiserv, Path and Salpo among its membership, Elegance is showing through action that serviced offices can offer significantly more upside than those afforded through more traditional avenues such as commercial real estate - all of which is now being provided in an ever more upscale yet egalitarian package. The importance of which was not lost on the guests at the event, who took time out from an evening of cocktails and networking to share their thoughts on Elegance.
Keeping such esteemed companies among its membership also has the added benefit of affording members to tap into a wealth of knowledge and experience from a host of mentors and industry leaders, while simultaneously offering companies access to notable accelerators and opening doors for potential investment opportunities and partnerships.

Sanjay Chaudhari, CEO Publicis Group, stated: “What I found absolutely amazing and really good for us is that this is truly world class. Especially for us in the communication business we need a space that can inspire us, something that helps us get more innovative and free thinking. I think what we saw at Elegance was absolutely fabulous.”
Ransley Burrows, Chief Creative Officer Leo Burnett, meanwhile doubled down on the praise for Elegance Rajagiriya’s striking aesthetic: “They say that first impressions matter and I am absolutely in love. I love the views, it’s got a lot of spaces to ogle. I can relax and look at the skyline of Colombo unobstructed, and that’s what need as creative people. We need that relaxation, so that our minds can romp and wonder.”
For Sarinda Unamboowe, CEO MAS Kreeda, the difference was in the quality. “The first thing that impressed me about Elegance was the quality of the whole operation. I have seen shared spaces before, but one thing you don’t really see is this chic interior which Elegance has, which is both functional as well as aesthetically pleasing,” he stated.
Unamboowe was also part of a panel discussion held during the course of the launch event. He was in conversation with Thulci Aluwihare, Head of Strategy & Business Development for CHEC Port City Colombo. The pair offered critical insights on the next wave of growth in Sri Lanka emerging through an innovation economy, and explored what it takes to create a Silicon Valley like ecosystem in Sri Lanka that can offer businesses and entrepreneurs with an environment and resources needed to build billion-dollar companies.
“The world has become a very different place in a very short period of time. COVID has come and democratised something that were bastions of economies around the world. Suddenly now, working from multiple locations has become something we have started accepting,” noted Unamboowe.
“So now there’s an opportunity where we don’t even have to move the people, we can create the infrastructure, we can create the networks, but what we have to do is create the catalyst of the idea.”
Elegance though certainly aren’t resting on their laurels. In their bid to redefine how businesses approach their workspace requirements, plans are already in place to open their third workspace in November of this year in Colombo 03, further cementing Elegance’s place as the largest serviced workspace provider in the country.
