The highlight of the year was the 6th TukTuk Tournament, sponsored by Redbull, held between October and November, which saw its largest turnout yet, with 208 participants forming 94 teams. Representing markets across Europe, the US, Australia and India, participants embarked on a unique journey, driving tuk-tuks through Sri Lanka’s most enchanting and lesser-known locations. The event not only showcased the beauty of the island but also strengthened connections between travelers and local communities. Participants ventured into over 1,000 off-the-beaten-path destinations, creating income for a wide range of accommodation providers, from five-star hotels and resorts to homestays, boosting micro-economies across rural and urban areas alike.
tuktukrental.com also made significant strides in sustainability, with tournament participants contributing to the funding of 78 new clean water connections in northern and eastern Sri Lanka, bringing the total to 321 connections since the initiative began. Recycling efforts were another critical focus, with participants responsibly managing waste during their journeys.
On a global scale,tuktukrental.com debuted at the World Travel Market in London, proudly promoting its vision of immersive travel experiences. This global trade fair spotlighted the company’s unique offerings and opened doors to partnerships with travel agents eager to showcase Sri Lanka’s charm to the world.
