385 prison inmates released under special State pardon

Colombo, December 25 (Daily Mirror) - The Department of Prisons announced today that a total of 385 prison inmates were released under a special State pardon in view of Christmas, Prison Commissioner (Media Spokesman) Gamini D. Dissanayake said.

Among the released inmates, four are females.

Accordingly, 48 inmates from the Mahara Prison, 45 from the Wariyapola Prison, and 41 from the Welikada Prison were released today.

It was also confirmed that none of the released inmates were convicted of drug-related charges.
