8 suspects in remand custody over Club Wasantha shooting granted bail

Colombo, December 10 (Daily Mirror) - Eight suspects, including the owner of the tattoo shop in Athurugiriya, who had been remanded over the double murder of businessman Surendra Wasantha Perera alias Club Wasantha and another in Aturugiriya on July 08, were ordered to be released on bail by Homagama High Court Judge Mohamed Ishardeen.

They were released on cash bail of Rs.100,000 and personal bail with two sureties each.

The passports of the eight suspects were impounded and they were ordered to report to Aturugiriya police every Sunday.

The suspects had been remanded over the murder of Surendra Wasantha Perera alias Cub Wasantha and Wijesuriya Arachchige Nayana Wasala Wijeratne and aiding and abetting it.

State Counsel Shakthi Jagodarachchi informed court that several of the suspects will turn state witnesses.

President's Counsel Saliya Peiris, Attorneys at Law Vishva Vidanagamage and Nuwan Jayawardene appeared for the suspects.
