Adverse weather claims four lives; six reported missing

Colombo, November 27 (Daily Mirror) - Four people have so far lost their lives and six others remain missing due to the severe weather conditions currently affecting the island, Director General of the Disaster Management Center Major General (Rtd) Udaya Herath said.

According to the Director General, the adverse weather has impacted 141 Divisional Secretariat Divisions across 18 districts.

Meanwhile, a total of 230,743 persons from 66,947 families have been affected by the ongoing conditions.

Major General Udaya Herath stated that eight houses have been completely destroyed and 620 houses have been partially damaged.

Further, he stated that 15,586 persons have been relocated to 165 safe locations.

Meanwhile, the Department of Meteorology forecast showers above 150 mm at some places in the Northern, North-Central, Central, Western and North-Western Provinces and in the Trincomalee and Kegalle districts.
