Agriculture Ministry Secretary appointed as new Milco chairman

Colombo, Dec. 19 (Daily Mirror) - Agriculture Ministry Secretary Janaka Dharmakeerthi has been appointed as the new Chairman of Milco Company Limited.

The appointment was made by Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera. 

Accordingly, in addition to the position of Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture and Plantation Industry, the Minister has also assigned the duties of this chairmanship to Janaka Dharmakeerthi.

The new chairman assumed duties from December 18. 

In the letter appointing the new chairman, the Minister has also mentioned that this appointment is being made in consideration of the increase in employee dissatisfaction of the company and the decrease in the production productivity of Milco Company.

Former Milco Chairman Renuka Perera resigned from his position in protest against the moves to sell Milco (Pvt) Ltd to an Indian company.
