Colombo, December 9 (Daily Mirror)- Air quality across all urban areas of the island has reached slightly adverse levels today, according to reports.

The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) said the Air Quality Index ranged between 100 and 150 throughout the island.

The NBRO's Environment Division Director Sarath Premasiri said these air quality levels could pose health risks to sensitive individuals.

"The air quality is currently being affected across the island, with pollution originating from Bangladesh and Pakistan. Winds are carrying this polluted air towards Sri Lanka. However, by tomorrow, most areas, except the Western Province, are expected to return to normal air quality," he said.

Premasiri advised individuals experiencing difficulties in breathing to seek medical attention immediately.

He also urged people not to burn garbage and recommended that those currently doing so stop it immediately.
