All spills gates of major reservoirs opened

Colombo, November 26 (Daily Mirror) - All spill gates of the Deduru Oya, Rathkinda Reservoirs, Polgolla Diversion Dam, Rajanganaya Reservoir, Iranamadu Tank, Ulhitiya Reservoir and Parakrama Samudra have been opened due to the heavy rainfall in these areas.  

Assistant Director of Media and Public Relations of the DMC, Janaka Handunpathiraja, said that flash flood alerts have been issued for the Mahaweli Ganga, Deduru Oya, Heda Oya, and Mundeni Aru areas.  

Reservoirs in most districts have reached their spill levels, resulting in flooding in many low-lying areas, he said. 

Residents in these areas are advised to remain vigilant for sudden floods.
