Announcement on obtaining NICs

Colombo, June 22 (Daily Mirror) - Individuals over the age of 40 who have not obtained their National Identity Cards (NIC) due to the lack of their birth certificates can still apply for their NICs, Commissioner General of the Department for Registration of Persons, Pradeep Saputantri said.

He said that persons in this age group have faced difficulties acquiring NICs due to the absence of birth their certificates. However, they now have until the end of this month to apply for their National ID cards.

Initially, the deadline for NIC applications was March 31. 

However, after receiving requests from Divisional Secretaries, the Commissioner General extended the deadline to June 30.
