Army corporal killed, 8 soldiers injured in accident

An army corporal was killed and another eight soldiers were hospitalised when a cab they were travelling in skidded off the road and toppled at Girithale in Polonnaruwa early this morning.

Police said ten solders were travelling in the cab when the accident occurred on the Polonnaruwa-Habarana Main Road.

The injured were admitted to the Polonnaruwa Hospital.

The 31-year-old corporal, attached to the Girithale Army Camp died on admission.

Police said the driver of the cab was arrested.
