The Cabinet of Ministers has taken a policy decision to let the Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa to engage with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to seek technical support to find solutions for the current economic crisis, says Cabinet Co-spokesperson Ramesh Pathirana.
The decision was taken at the Cabinet of Ministers meeting held on Monday, the Cabinet Co-spokesperson Ramesh Pathirana said.
IMF Asia and Pacific Department Director Changyong Rhee is currently in Colombo to brief President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Finance Minister Bail Rajapaksa and relevant officials on the fund’s assessment of the crisis-hit economy.
Rhee met with the Finance Minister and Treasury Secretary S. R. Atygalle yesterday.
